Get to know Dean in this Q&A Series

What path brought you to this business?

The need to stay busy and help my daughter and son-in-law anyway that I could.

What is your title and a few of your responsibilities at Corporate Recognition?

My responsibility is to keep my daughter on her toes, whatever that title may be.

What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?

There isn’t anything that cannot be solved someway or somehow.  I am willing to find that way while others think it is too big of a problem.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients? What do your ideal clients say about you?

Current Clients would probably say I am best at really narrowing in on options for them to pick from. They give me a budget and I find them the best product I can within that budget and that’s what people like. My ideal clients would say how I am a great communicator with them on the project we are working on together. Success is based on communication and without that it is hard to succeed.

Give an example of one of the hardest problems you had to solve (Present or past job)?

Getting a very busy office to look at my research and get it moving.  I like to lean on people to get things done.

What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make?

I am excited every single day (even at 80) to do research that will help produce sales and contacts.  Everyday is a challenge and every day brings new things to do to benefit the business.

What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?

My kids and grandkids and great grand-kids.  My kids are all honest, hard-working, Christian individuals who have grown up to be outstanding adults, and I am so proud of each one of them.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or a Sunday afternoon?

Watching sports.

What is your favorite Hobby?

Work – enjoy working.  Crazy, isn’t it?  Got a lot to do yet and a short time to do it.

How long have you been doing what you do?

After spending 30 years in hardware business owing a store – and 20 years in sales management in wholesale hardware – I am glad to be active and doing what I love, helping do whatever that may be in this business for my daughter.

Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?

I grew up in Illinois.  Retired in 1998, and kids decided we should move near them, which was Las Vegas NV, then to Thornton Co and now last stop is El Paso TX.

Any volunteer activities you’re crazy about and/or nonprofits you love, & why?

We have always been active in church because that is where our heart is.

What would be impossible for you to give up?

Working.

What is your favorite color, favorite food, and favorite time of year?

Color: Red

Food: French Fries

Time of Year: Spring

Who is your favorite singer or band and why?

I’m an old guy.  I like all the 60s music.

What is your favorite Movie or Movie Character?

Ain’t got time for the movies – too busy.

What is your motto or a code you live by?

Always tell the truth – Be honest in everything you do.

How do you want to be remembered?

As a down to earth good guy.

Anything else you’d like to tell people about yourself?

I like what I am doing.  I have to keep busy.  As long as I can work at my desk and watch Fox News on the television, I am in hog heaven.
